Dental insurance payment posting, done within a day

FirstOps posts dental insurance payments into your practice management system within a day, records every write-off and flags denials worth disputing.

Posting insurance payments is the job that piles up first when a dental office is short-handed. Remittances arrive from every payer in a different shape, each line has to be matched to the right patient, visit and procedure, and anything that did not pay in full needs a decision: write it off, bill someone else, or dispute it. When posting falls behind, the ledger stops telling the truth, and nobody can see which claims are actually stuck.

FirstOps takes that work off your team.

How it works#

  1. We read each remittance as it lands. Electronic remittances (ERAs) and paper or portal EOBs, from each payer we connect for your practice.
  2. Every line is checked before anything is posted. The paid amount, the adjustment codes, and the claim it belongs to. Lines that do not match cleanly are not guessed at.
  3. Clean payments are posted into your practice management system, usually within 24 hours of the remittance.
  4. Every write-off is recorded with its reason: frequency limit, plan restriction, already paid, bundled into another procedure.
  5. Denials worth fighting are flagged while there is still time: a crown that needs a reconsideration with X-rays, a claim that should have gone to the primary insurer first, a late filing that may qualify for a waiver.
  6. Every week your office gets one report: what was posted, what was written off and why, and the short list of claims that need a person.

What your team still decides#

Anything clinical, and anything that needs the dentist's judgment. A reconsideration for a denied crown needs the treating dentist to say the records support it. We put those on the weekly list with what to send; we don't send them without you.

Works in your practice management system#

FirstOps works with any practice management system. Most practices we work with today run Dentrix Ascend, Open Dental or Curve Dental. Payments land in the same ledger your team already uses.

Pricing#

Month to month, no long-term contract. $750 a month under 250 claims; $249 a month plus $2 per claim from 250 to 1,000 claims; custom pricing above that. Every plan starts with a 2-week free trial. See pricing.

Frequently asked questions

What is dental insurance payment posting?

It is entering what an insurer paid, adjusted and denied on each claim into the practice's ledger, line by line from the remittance (ERA or EOB), so patient balances and insurance aging are correct.

How fast are payments posted?

Clean payments are usually posted within 24 hours of the remittance arriving. Lines that need a decision go on the weekly report instead of being posted on a guess.

Do you post denials and write-offs too?

Yes. Each denied or reduced line is recorded with the reason the payer gave. Denials that can still be recovered are flagged for your office, with what to do and by when.

Which payers do you support?

We connect payers one at a time for each practice, starting with the ones that make up most of your volume. Medicaid dental programs and commercial plans are both supported.

Can you clear a posting backlog?

Yes. Unposted remittances from earlier months are posted the same way as new ones, oldest first.
