What dental payment posting and billing services cost (2026)

Published 2026 prices for dental payment posting and billing services, side by side: FirstOps, Teero, eAssist, Dental Claim Support and Wisdom.

Most dental billing companies price as a percentage of your insurance collections, with a flat monthly minimum underneath. A few price per claim. Several don't publish a price at all. Below are the published rates, taken from each company's own pricing page in October 2026, and what each one includes.

What two example practices would pay#

Two practices, each averaging about $200 of insurance payments per claim:

Smaller practice: 150 claims, $30,000 a monthMid-size practice: 400 claims, $80,000 a month
FirstOps$750$1,049
Teero (before volume discounts)$800 (the minimum)$1,600
eAssist / Dental Claim Support$1,400$2,800
Wisdom$1,397$2,800

These are not like-for-like. eAssist, Dental Claim Support and Wisdom are full-service billing companies: their billers also submit claims and work denials and appeals. FirstOps and Teero handle the work after the claim goes out, and leave claim submission with your office. Compare a full-service quote against what it would cost you to keep claim submission in-house.

Three pricing models, and how they behave#

  • A flat minimum. Most full-service companies charge about $1,400 a month until you pass $40,000 in monthly insurance collections. For a smaller practice, that flat fee is the most expensive way to buy billing: at $30,000 a month it is about 4.7% of collections.
  • A percentage of collections. Your bill grows with every fee increase and every large case, even though posting a $900 crown takes the same work as posting a $50 exam.
  • Per claim, or a flat monthly plan. Your bill follows how many claims you have, which you can predict. FirstOps charges a flat $750 below 250 claims a month, then $249 plus $2 per claim.

What to ask any vendor#

  1. What is the effective rate at my volume? Divide the monthly bill by your monthly insurance collections.
  2. What is included? Claim submission, posting, denials, appeals, patient statements, verification?
  3. What are the setup fee and the minimum? Is there a contract term?
  4. Which payers and payment types are covered from day one? ERAs, paper checks, virtual cards.
  5. Which practice management systems do you work in?

Frequently asked questions

How much does outsourced dental billing cost?

Full-service dental billing companies that publish prices charge about $1,400 a month per location below $40,000 in monthly insurance collections, then 2.5% to 3.5% of collections. Posting-focused services cost less: Teero publishes 2% with an $800 minimum, and FirstOps publishes $750 a month under 250 claims.

How much does dental payment posting cost on its own?

Published prices for posting-focused services in 2026 range from FirstOps' $750 a month for practices under 250 claims, to Teero's 2% of insurance collections with an $800 monthly minimum. Several vendors, including Lassie and Zentist, quote only after a demo.

Why don't some companies publish their prices?

Usually because the price depends on volume, number of locations and the payers involved, or because they prefer to quote after a demo. Ask for the effective rate at your own volume.

Does FirstOps have a contract?

No. FirstOps is month to month, with a 2-week free trial and a $500 one-time setup. See pricing.
